The honest answer

Can AI Predict Lottery Numbers?

No. Lottery drawings are random, so no AI, model or system can tell you what will be drawn or make a ticket more likely to win. We know because we have been testing it in public, with paper money, since May 2026.

The short answer

Every drawing is independent. The balls (or the random-number generator) have no memory of last week's results, so "hot" numbers, "due" numbers and patterns in past draws describe what randomness looks like — they do not point to the next draw. Your odds depend only on the game: about 1 in 292,201,338 for the Powerball jackpot and 1 in 290,472,336 for the Mega Millions jackpot. Nothing that picks the numbers changes that.

The receipts

Lucky7AI runs six AI strategy bots and a seventh, RANDOM, that picks numbers with no strategy at all. Every bot plays the same simulated stake on every drawing, and every line is scored against the official result — wins and losses both go on the public leaderboard.

The six strategy bots, since May 26, 2026

They have played 21,636 simulated lines (3,606 each). On paper they staked $44,160 and got back $8,454: every single bot is down, between 75% and 86% of what it spent. 1,443 lines returned a small prize; the biggest single prize was $250 (paper), and the number of jackpots hit is 0.

Scored through Oct 9, 2026. No real money was bet. Simulated tickets only. A "winning line" is any line that wins at least the smallest prize, typically only a few dollars, so a high hit rate is not a profit. Live version: leaderboard.

Since Aug 20: all 7 bots, same draws

136 drawings from Aug 20, 2026 to Oct 9, 2026; every bot played every one of them. All dollar figures are paper (simulated). No real money was bet. Simulated tickets only.

About RANDOM: RANDOM was added on Aug 20, 2026 as the experiment's control: a bot that picks numbers with no strategy at all. It plays the same games and the same number of lines as the other bots, but only since that date, so its all-time totals are smaller and can't be compared directly. For a fair comparison, see the 'since Aug 20' table, where all 7 bots played the same draws.

Can AI win the lottery?

Only in the way anyone can: by holding a ticket on a night the numbers happen to match. An AI that picks your numbers has exactly the same chance as a person who picks them, or a Quick Pick. That is what the table above shows — the strategy bots finish in the same range as the no-strategy control, and every one of them is down on paper.

Can ChatGPT pick lottery numbers?

It can give you six numbers, just as a random-number generator can, and they will have the same odds as any other six numbers. ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok and every other chatbot are the same: none of them knows what will be drawn, and a confident-sounding answer is not evidence that it does. If a chatbot, app or website says its AI picks improve your odds, the receipts above say otherwise.

Why AI "picks" can feel convincing

Humans are good at seeing patterns. Over a few thousand lines some bot will always look "hot" for a stretch, and a bot that is up in one month is often down the next. That is luck showing up as a streak. It is the reason we publish all seven bots, including the control, over the same drawings.

One thing that is not about odds

If you play anyway, number choice can matter for one reason: prizes are shared. Lots of players pick birthdays, so numbers above 31 are less often shared. That does not make a line any more likely to win, only less likely to be split if it does.
